It’s finally come — Bedphones VS SleepPhones. Two well-known names you’re familiar with. But which of these headphones is the best for sleep?
In this post, you’ll find these two bed-friendly headphones go head-to-head in several categories so by the end, you can make a confident decision in which one you might want to get.
The Bedphones and SleepPhones are very different, yet at the same time, pretty similar.
Here’s what I mean…
Both headphones are simple and easy to use. It takes just a few seconds to get them going.
Bedphones are simple. They’re like a regular pair of headphones.
You simply hook them over and behind your ear with its flexible wire, and place the speaker flush alongside it. Bedphones never stick inside your ear. From there, just plug it into a device and play.
What makes these unique is the tiny and flat speakers. When you lay on them in bed, because they’re so flat, you’ll barely feel them press against you.
SleepPhones are like Bedphones, but with an added touch.
Keeping the flat speaker design in play, but instead of hooking them onto your ear, these are kept safely inside a soft headband.
Just wear it before going to sleep, align the speakers to your ear, and plug and play. With the added padding of the headband, SleepPhones are comfortable to lay on.

Let’s get these out of the way first. After knowing how these headphones work, you’re probably curious about the problems you’ll run into when using them. And here they are…
Bedphones’ fit depend on the size and shape of your ear.
You can mold and adjust it in any way you want, but for some, they can never get comfortable when you lay on them. But if these happen to fit your ear, you’ll have a perfect pair of headphones for sleeping.
Another problem you might run into is its durability. Many people have complained about them breaking quickly (less than a month). But they do have a warranty to help solve this issue. More on that later though.
Lastly, keeping these on your ears can be difficult. After all, only a wire is holding them in place. But again, this largely depends on the size of your ear.
With SleepPhones, you don’t have to worry much about them falling off. The headband holds up for most.
What you might have problems with is the speakers moving out of place within the headband. You see, the speakers aren’t built into the headband — they’re removable. So as you sleep with them on, they can shuffle around inside.
As for functionality, people complained the SleepPhones last on average 6 months. But like the Bedphones, these also come with a warranty.
We know both are designed to be comfortable in bed. But what makes these headphones so comfortable to wear?
Bedphones have a speaker that’s 1/4 inches thick. Not only that, the speakers are also padded with a soft foam. This is great when you lie down on your side. With this, the speakers are almost a cushion for your ears.
SleepPhones are the same. Their headphones and control panel are also super flat. And the speakers are padded as well, in addition to the padding of the headband.
With that said, the headband can go either way. Some find it comfortable, while others do not. You just have to make sure you get the right size. Which I’ll show you how in a second.
Headphones need maintenance? Well, with SleepPhones you do…
Bedphones require no maintenance. But with their small and thin construction, you just have to be careful not to break it. Many people have broken the plug or wire (which is why they made a new version that’s more durable).
With SleepPhones, because they come with a headband, you will need to wash it from time to time. It’s very simple: machine wash warm, tumble dry medium. You just need to carefully remove the speakers from inside before doing so, and stick them back in after washing.
Both brands come in corded and wireless. Here’s more info about each one.
Bedphones have 2 models — Bedphones Gen. 3.5 and Bedphones Wireless.
Gen. 3.5 is an upgrade of all their previous discontinued versions. With thicker wires and a metal headphone plug to prevent easy breakage, plus with better sound quality, you can bet these are the best Bedphones you can rest your ears on.
But the Bedphones Wireless is their newest addition. Which provides the same qualities as the corded Gen. 3.5, except it’s wireless and has a button control built into the headphones. Perfect for when you toss and turn in bed because now you don’t have to worry about a cord.
SleepPhones has many models, but we’ll only talk about the main 3 — SleepPhones Classic, SleepPhones Wireless, and SleepPhones Effortless.
The Classic is your standard corded SleepPhones. The Wireless comes with a Bluetooth Module which goes into the headband along with the speakers. Don’t worry though, this piece is also super flat and flexible. It contains the control buttons too.
Effortless takes wireless to another level. It’s everything of the SleepPhones Wireless, but this time, contains wireless charging for “effortless” usage. This is possible with its special induction charging technology.
One size fits all. But remember, how it fits depends on your ear.
SleepPhones come in three sizes (headbands) — Extra Small, One Size Fits Most, and Extra Large.
To measure, use a measuring tape and measure around your forehead, over your ears, and around to the back of your head. Although, most people don’t do this, here’s rule of thumb: unless you have a super small or large head, just go with the One Size Fits Most.
Their estimate for Extra Small is for petite women, and for Extra Large, large and tall men with hair.
As of now, the price of these two headphones are the EXACT SAME.
The Bedphones Gen. 3.5 (corded) currently goes for 59.95. The SleepPhones corded models go for 39.95. While their SleepPhones Effortless go for 129.95.
And both the Bedphones and SleepPhones Wireless models go for 99.95.
It is worth mentioning though, that with each Bedphones you get, you also get a FREE travel case and satin sleep mask.
And with each model of the SleepPhones, you can choose between two types of headbands — fleece (for cooler weather), and breeze (for warmer weather).
There’s pros and cons to both of these headphones, but my final pick is SleepPhones.
SleepPhones are pretty much Bedphones in a headband. So it only makes sense for me to go with the more comfortable one. Besides, Bedphones can be very tricky with how it fits.
However, Bedphones’ advantage is that it can be used anywhere like a normal pair of headphones. I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t walk around in public with SleepPhones on. Bedphones are great when sleeping on the road (remember it comes with a sleep mask and travel case).
But for me, I don’t expect to use these outdoors.
I’m looking for the best headphones for sleeping. When it comes to outdoors, I’ll purchase regular headphones to use.
In regards to sound quality, the Bedphones and SleepPhones are practically the same. Again, this depends on how they fit. Both lay flat on your ear, so if they aren’t close or semi-tight fitting, the audio won’t be so great. I found the SleepPhones best in holding the headphones close to my ear though because of the headband.
